James Donnelly (Owner & Head S&C Coach)

Masters in Football Strength & Conditioning from the Football Science Institute, Diploma Football Strength & Conditioning, BSc Sports Science and more...

✅ Taught directly by sports scientists and nutritionists working at some of the worlds biggest clubs - including Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG.

✅ Spent 9 years at English professional club Wycombe Wanderers FC and represented England Schoolboys before suffering a "career ending" injury age 19.

✅ Studied and designed my own programme which lead to me being able to make a return to competitive football against all the odds after 4 years out - despite doctors telling me I'd never play again. 

✅ Created Matchfit in 2015 to teach players what I discovered through my studies and time out injured to help them fulfill their true potential. Have since grown the coaching team to serve players to a deeper level and at a greater scale.

Yianni Kyriacou (Assistant S&C Coach & Personal Mentor)

✅ Yianni works alongside all Matchfit players on a daily basis guiding them through their inductions and providing 1-1 support and accountability throughout the season.

✅ He has an MSc in Strength & Conditioning, is an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach from the UKSCA and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the NSCA. 

✅ Worked in pro football at both Leyton Orient FC and QPR. 
Shaun Ward (Sports Nutrition)

✅ Shaun has a PhD in Sports Nutrition, a MSc in Sports Nutrition and a BSc in Nutrition. 

✅ He's worked privately with several top-level footballers since completing his Masters. 

✅ Previously worked as a Performance Nutritionist with Science in Sport (SIS).

✅ Was closely linked with Manchester United during his time with SIS, supplying players with personalised advice on supplements and nutrition plans. 
Barney Wren (Sports Psychology)

✅ Barney has a Masters in Sports Psychology and is a member of the British Psychological society. 

✅ He also worked with the youth academy at a top Premier League club, supporting players mental performance all the way up to first team level. 

✅ Alongside supporting Matchfit players he also provides psychological support and frameworks for the GB Hockey team players and coaches.
